Tigard, Oregon was settled in 1852 and eventually incorporated in 1961. Tigard is nestled between Beaverton and Tualatin, just west of Portland in Washington County. Shopping and Dining
Tigard is home to Washington Square shopping mall, which features five anchor stores, plus 170 specialty shops and restaurants, and a food court. The recently built Bridgeport Village offers a wide variety of national, regional, and local shops, restaurants, and services, as well as a new state-of-the-art multiplex movie theater. Shopping events and themed celebrations are posted regularly on their website.
While in Tigard, be sure to visit downtown and experience the local shops that line Main Street, where you will find free Wi-Fi access provided by a partnership between the City of Tigard and the local Chamber of Commerce. Free Wi-Fi is also available along Burnham Street, Fanno Park, Cook Park, and the Tigard City Hall.
Parks and Recreation
Tigard residents have plenty of park options to choose from with over 300 acres of city-managed recreation at their fingertips. Gorgeous paths along Fanno Creek, the Tualatin River, and the Pathfinder-Genesis Trails offer a great escape to day hikers. The dog lovers among us appreciate the dedicated dog parks found at Ash Street, Potso, and Summerlake Parks. Local youth have additional reason to celebrate with the recent opening of the Jim Griffith Memorial Skate Park in October 2007.
